Does Sheikh and Sayed carry the same meaning ?

It's not the same. 

Sheikh is an honorific title in the Arabic language. It commonly designates the ruler of a tribe, who inherited the title from his father. (Learn more here)

Sayed (Sayyid, Syed) is an honorific title denoting males accepted as descendants of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad through his grandsons, Hasan ibn Ali and Husayn ibn Ali.  (Learn more here) - Malaysia's programming knowledge sharing platform, where everyone can share their finding as reference to others.
