It's not the same. 

Sheikh is an honorific title in the Arabic language. It commonly designates the ruler of a tribe, who inherited the title from his father. (Learn more here)

Sayed (Sayyid, Syed) is an honorific title denoting males accepted as descendants of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad through his grandsons, Hasan ibn Ali and Husayn ibn Ali.  (Learn more here)
