How to diagnose a bad heater plug in Ford ranger 2004?

I experienced hard-starting of my ranger especially in the morning. It takes sometimes to start the car, and it followed by white smokes. Please help if you experienced the same thing and how to overcome it.

That's so obvious caused by a bunch of bad glow plugs ( As you referred as heater plug).

Uninstall all 4 glow plugs from your car, and test it with car battery (while car is idle) whether its still firing.

Mine cost at RM280 with workmanship. Good luck
