So far, I just love it. The food was nice, and alot of option I can say. The people generally are friendly, and willing to help. The weather is change frequently. A bit hot and wet.

I visited Malaysia in 2009. In the traveler point of view, to be honest, Kuala Lumpur worth only 3 days maximum. Go to caves, try all sort of Malaysian foods, probably a few museums, and of course, do not forget to visit the great twin tower. If you like to shopping, KL is the home of it.

But don't worry, there's alot of interesting places nearby KL. For instance, Malacca is very unique city, you can see alot of different cultures and influences across the city. If you missed the cold weather, head up to genting or cameron highlands. There's also beach within 90KM away from KL.Hope you'll enjoy it.

I assumed that you are a westerner hence you'll probably have to make some trade offs. Western food here are expensive for local standard, about the same price as European standard. ( 3 times higher than local food)

Talking about accommodation,if you are happy with small apartment and non-fancy condo like on expat market,  then you will save more, and enjoy life more.

Good luck
